Apologies for the lack of recent posts, there was a technology issue which is now thankfully resolved. This week saw Key Stage One perform their Christmas performance to a large audience of mums, dads, grandparents and carers. Key Stage One, you were absolutely amazing!! You sang your hearts out, remembered all of the actions and delivered your lines loudly and clearly. You can all be very proud of yourselves as Mr Mallison and I are of you. It suddenly seems very strange not to be practising the songs anymore.
This week we were also able to enjoy a festive Christmas lunch whilst wearing our Christmas jumpers. Thanks to Mrs Gell and all of the kitchen staff for making this happen. The children also got to take part in the elf run in aid of Dove House Hospice. Everyone took to the track with elf hats intact and enjoyed the fresh air whilst running or walking around. It was lovely to see the older children taking the younger children under their wing and walking with them.
As the weather turned colder this week, it was ideally matched to class two’s geography learning this week. A series of animal foot prints and clues appeared in the classroom on Monday and the children worked together to solve them. They were able to deduce that the prints had been made by a penguin, that lived in Antarctica. We then went on to find out more about life and weather in Antarctica and decide what we would need to pack in a suitcase if we were going to go on a visit there.
This coming week we will be participating in the church carol service, listening the schools music service play for us and joining friends and family to sing round the tree on Friday. Children will have the opportunity to attend the PTFA disco on Wednesday and also take part in the Key Stage One party on Thursday. We hope to have an extra surprise on Thursday too – watch this space.
Here are some photos from our performance, our geography work and also some stunning collages completed of the Nativity scene in RE.
