We are enjoying our current unit on materials and their properties. Class 2 have completed a scavenger hunt around the classroom looking for objects made of different materials. They were able to discuss objects that could be made of more than one material like the rulers in the classroom that are either made of plastic or wood. We had a really good discussion on how suitable materials are for different things such as ‘Why are windows made of glass not wood?’ and ‘Would a teapot made of chocolate be useful?’. Some of the class also investigated the materials in the class feely box and described the properties of the material so that the other children could try and guess what it was. Along with class 1 we also sang along to a really fun materials song. I thought I would post it here in case you wanted to try it too.
